I found this little gem the other afternoon after going through a long-forgotten recipe box.
This was my first ever “recipe,” written when I was about 12 after discovering, to my horror, we’d run out of Prego for my beloved spaghetti.
So, I rolled up my sleeves and delved into the depths of our cupboard. After all, how hard could it be to make spaghetti sauce? You just need tomatoes… and seasoned rice vinegar… and turmeric…
As I always tell people who ask how I learned to cook, it’s simply trial and error. Apparently the thyme and ginger and triple vinegar-threat were so good that they earned their very own recipe card so my ever-industrious and brave younger brother could make The Best Spaghetti Sauce in the World, even when I wasn’t around to make it for him. Bless his heart, he’s always been very supportive.
